comedy show that features hilarious audience involved routines, parodies of Sting’s recent hits as well as clever re-writes of Neil Diamond’s “Forever In Blue Jeans” and You Don’t Bring Me Flowers”. Lance recruits the audience’s help in ‘The Ikea Song” where the crowd adds funny new lyrics to a popular song, which Lance promptly sings. It’s an evening of farce and laughter that will have you loving Lance as well as he loves himself. The Very Famous Lance Vegas began his illustrious musical comedy career at age 13, performing in drag in Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas for local theatre. His indistinct voice and his flair for the trite led him to meteoric stardom in the mid eighties, performing lip- sync contests in cheap nightclubs from coast to coast. Lance felt that he had to keep plugging to stay on top and managed to make the transition to karaoke fame in the 90’s, bringing back the stylings of such musical performers as Kaja Googoo and Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam. The music and comedy fell tightly into place for “the original American Idol” in 2001 as Lance toured the bowling alley circuit, debuting his re-written Neil Diamond songs to the delight of several at the Superbowl in Peru, IL. The self-proclaimed “King of Bling” now boasts having opened in concert for Babs (Markowitz) and Ole Blue Eyes (Wukitz). According to the Northwest Herald, “Lance Vegas can turn a sterile room into a crowd of curious on-lookers.” No techno multi-pants in this show! Lance is a regular guest on the successful cable TV program, PSYCHOBABBLE where he performs his magic and experiments with new forms of show-biz entertainment. Chicago comedy veteran TR Benker portrays The Very Famous Lance Vegas in this high-energy musical comedy show. Benker has performed in 31 states in his 22 years of comedy opening for the likes of Jackie Mason, Steven Wright, and Darryl Hammond as well as working the Bally’s Ballroom in Las Vegas with Rodney Dangerfield. His “guy-next-door” humor invites you in, and ends up borrowing your lawnmower. Benker has also performed on the Oprah Winfrey Show and Entertainment Tonight, co-authored the “Improv Comedy Board Game” and the “Game of Top Ten Lists”. He hosted morning radio shows in Las Vegas and Houston for several years, supplying comedy and his hilarious song parodies, which led to the birth of Lance Vegas. Lance’s songs can be heard in many radio markets over the All-Star Radio Network. |
